Make sure you can answer them



A vital part of your interview preparation is to make sure you can answer the Top Ten common interview questions in a way that persuades and reassures the interviewers that you can and will do the job on offer.

During our individual coaching sessions we nearly always get asked to give interview practice by firing ‘tough questions’ at the ‘interviewee.

But to be honest many of our clients struggle to answer the basics never mind the tough ones. It is essential that you plan and practice these basics. There really can be no excuse.

If you can answer the obvious (and easy) ones confidently and persuasively the tough ones will often look after themselves.

The interviewer may make allowances if you are less than word perfect with a non-predictable question but will not be impressed if you mess up the most common question:-

‘Tell Me About Yourself?’

And yes, candidates do mess this one up, regularly.

As well as being the number one question asked it is also the number one question answered worst

  • Tell me about yourself?

  • What are your weaknesses?

  • Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
